Levanto, the gateway of the famous Cinque Terre, and a short distance from La Spezia, the capital city of the region, is surrounded by beauty on all side. This coastal town, embraced by hills welcomes everyone. It has a medieval history, and features old and modern buildings. However its most enviable attraction is its amazing coastline. Sandy beaches, bright blue sea, rocky coves and a seabed bursting with flora and fauna. Moreover if you like trekking you can discover numerous paths amongst the luscious green of the valley.

Focaccia, or Fugassa in Ligurian dialet, is one of the symbols of Ligurian street food, well known and loved all over the world. Its soft and tasty dough makes impossible to stop at the first bite!

Gattafin: the name of this dishcomes from a rocky beach located between Levanto and Monterosso called “La Gatta”, where in the 30’s were located a quarry sandstone. The quarry were placed far from the town and, especially in the winter time, the minors were forced to walk there spending more than a hour. On the way they collected firewood, pine cones and wild erbs, which ones were used to make these kind of ravioli.

A crispy crust that is traditionally served as a snack or sandwich food. It is made from Farinata, which is similar to a pancake that is broken into pieces and combined with onions, mushrooms, grated cheese.

Pesto is a sauce originating in Genoa, it consists of crushed garlic, European pine nuts, salt, basil leaves, and olive oil. All these ingredients are crushed in a marble mortar with a wooden pestle.
